The first child of Gordon Robert Uttley and Alvena Schultz, Mildred Kathleen Uttley was born on September 19, 1907 in Toronto. The family was living at 174 Strachan Avenue in Toronto at the time.
Milly was married to James Louis Alexander Crannie on July 24, 1923 in Kitchener. They had seven children but only four lived into adulthood.

By the 1950s, James Crannie had been hospitalized for many years. He may have died or a divorce may have been granted as James had lost the ability to communicate.

Milly was remarried to Ellrose (Bill) Marcus Proehl on September 14, 1961. Milly and Bill were living in Flint, Michigan in 1959.
Mildred died on September 22, 1984 and Bill followed in December 1996.
Gordon Christian Uttley was born July 23, 1909 in Welland, Ontario, the second child of Gordon Robert Uttley and Alvena Matilda Schultz. Gordon married his wife Elva Irene Bettke, known as Irene, on December 2, 1930. Their only child Joyce Margaret Uttley was born in 1935.

Harry worked at Canadian Blower and Forge and played the saxaphone in a band at local dance clubs in his spare time. Their only child David Lee Gordon Bott was born in 1940.

Harry Clifford Bott, 52, of 84 Simeon St., died suddenly Tuesday of a heart attack.
Born in Bridgeport on Aug 4, 1910, Mr. Bott had lived in Kitchener for 45 years and had been employed at Canadian Blower and Forge for 17 years.
He was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. David Bott.
Surviving are his wife, the former Hilda Uttley whom he married in 1936; a son David L. G. Bott, Kitchener; three brothers, Percy and Andrew of Kitchener, and Lorne of Waterloo; two sisters, Mrs. John Skoy, Kitchener, and Mrs. John Squesnel, Waterloo, and a granddaughter. He was predeceased by a sister, Mrs. Perl Wittke, in 1958.
The body is at the Ratz-Bechtel Funeral Home where the funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday. Rev. F. M. Faist, minister of Zion Evangelical Church, will conduct the service. John Robert Uttley was born the fourth child of Gordon Robert Uttley and Alvena Schultz on December 4, 1912. He must have been named for his paternal grandfather. The Kitchener Daily Record included a report on the social pages on Tuesday February 13, 1934, page 6:

C. church, Waterloo, was the scene of an interesting event at nine o'clock Monday morning when Miss Hilda Dorscht, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Dorscht, 79 John street east, Waterloo, became the bride of Mr. Robert Uttley of Kitchener, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Uttley, 151 Church street. Rev. Father Hinsperger officiated.
The bridal party entered the church to the strains of the wedding music played by the organist and choirmaster of the church, Mr. Eugene Fehrenbach. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, was attended to the place by her sister, Miss Irene Dorscht, the bridesmaid and the bridegroom was assisted by Earl R. Cullen of Simcoe.
The bride was smartly gowned in Esmund Blue crepe with hat and accessories to match and wore a corsage of roses and lilies of the valley. Her bridesmaid wore a becoming gown of Nassau blue with hat to match and corsage of roses and lilies of the valley.
After the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served at the home of the bride's parents when covers were laid for 35 at prettily appointed tables decorated in a color scheme of pink and white.
Mr. and Mrs. Uttley were made the recipients of many beautiful gifts. They will take up residence in Waterloo.

Survived by ten precious great-grandchildren. Predeceased by two brothers and three sisters. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed by her close friend, Dorothy Reiser.
A private service was held in Almonte on Thursday, April 18, 2002 and interment will follow at a later date in St. Agatha, Ont.

in 1955Harold Wellington Uttley was born the fifth child of Gordon Robert Uttley and Alvena Schultz on January 25, 1914 in Welland, Ontario. His middle name was taken from his father's brother, Uncle Wally, but his given name is unique in the Uttley family.
Harold was a bachelor all his life. In 1959 he resided in Brantford. February 12, 1934. He died April 15, 1983 and so far no obituary has been found.
Harold donated his body to the McMaster Medical Science Hospital in Hamilton. He wanted no funeral and no service to mark his passing.
Arnold Russell Uttley was the sixth child of Gordon Robert Uttley and Alvena Schultz, born on January 9, 1915 in Welland, Ontario.
Arnold was married to Nellie Gallagher on September 18, 1937. They had two children, Robert and Janet. In 1959 the family lived in Flint, Michigan.

William was a bachelor all his life. By 1959 he resided in Toronto where he remained. He died Friday March 25, 1983 at his residence at 62 Alhambra Ave.

The home of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Uttley, 151 Church street, was the scene of a happy event Saturday afternoon at 3.30 o'clock when their daughter, Miss Florence Isobel Uttley, became the bride of Mr. Roy Leonard Burgetz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Allan Burgetz. Rev. U. K. Weber, pastor of the Sterling avenue Mennonite church, officiated.
The bride wore a floor-length gown of Tyrol green transparent velvet with gold flower headdress and she carried pale pink Talisman roses and lily of the valley.
She was attended by Miss Luella Kropf wearing a floor-length gown of dubonnet transparent velvet gown with a gold flowered headdress and carrying a bouquet of red Sweetheart roses.
Mr. Gordon Burgetz was the best man.
Miss Mae Clemens played the wedding music.
The rooms were prettily decorated with pink decorations and white wedding bells. Following the ceremony, wedding refreshments were served from a table centred with a wedding cake.
Among the 50 guests present were out of town relatives and friends from Waterloo, Galt, Centreville, Toronto and Blair.
After the reception the bride and bridegroom left to spend their honeymoon in Toronto. The bride wore for travelling a green silk crepe dress with green shoes and gloves and a black coat and hat.
Upon their return they will take up residence at 109 1/2 Water street, Galt.

The nineth child of Gordon Robert Uttley and Alvena Schultz, Franklin (Frank) George Uttley was born on May 18, 1921.
Frank first married Florence Virginia Waechter on November 8, 1940. Two children followed.
The couple were divorced on February 7, 1956. Florence remarried Henry Otto Riehl later that month on February 25. She died November 10, 1970 in Stratford at age 49 years.
Sixteen years later, Frank was married a second time to Rose LaFlamme nee Schwartz on May 26, 1972. Rose was the fourth child of Edward Schwartz and Catherine Dentinger, born May 8, 1908 in Berlin, Ontario. Rose was the widow of Ambrose LaFlamme who had died earlier in 1972.

Myrtle Alvena Uttley was born August 27, 1923, the tenth child of Gordon Robert Uttley and Alvena Schultz. Her middle name was taken from her mother.
Myrtle married Theodore (Ted) Oscar Howald on September 5, 1942 in Kitchener. The Kitchener Daily Record gave the details on Tuesday Sept 8, 1942, page 10:

A wedding of interest was solemnized at St. John's Anglican Church on Saturday afternoon when Miss Myrtle Alvina Uttley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Uttley, Church Street, became the bride of Pte. Theodore Oscar Howald, R.C.O.C., Chatham, son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Howald, Mannheim. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Mr. Catling before an altar banked with gladioli. The guest pews were marked with white ribbon.
Mr. Albert Hainsworth, organist, played the "Wedding March" from Lohengrin.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white satin with lace inserts, sweetheart neckline and long sleeves pointed at the wrist. It was completed with a white finger-tip veil and a bouquet of Talisman roses and fern.
She was attended by Miss Marjorie Jackson who was gowned in blue sheer over blue taffets. Her bouquet was of Talisman roses and fern.
Pte. William Joseph, Chatham, performed the duties of best man.
A wedding dinner was served at the home of the bride's parents in the evening. Covers were laid for 50 guests. The bride's table was centred with a wedding cake, tall candles and pink and white streamers.
The bride's mother wore a navy blue sheet frock with a corsage of Talisman roses. The mother of the bridegroom choose black triple sheer trimmed in white and completed with a corsage of Talisman roses.
For their wedding trip, the couple went to Toronto and points in Northern Ontario, the bride travelling in a two-piece navy blue triple sheer ensemble under a navy coat and finished with beige accessories. They will reside in Kitchener.
Out-of-town guests were from Toronto, Hamilton, Mannheim, Petawawa and Debert, N.S.Myrtle and Ted had four children in their marriage: Ronald Theodore, Terrence Gordon, Gail Laurine and Thomas Robert.

The Departed ----- Arthur Henry Uttley The funeral of the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Uttley, Arthur Henry, was held today from the residence of the parents, 151 Church street. The child who was 1 year, 3 months and 3 days old, died on Friday after a brief illness.
Irene Lillian Uttley was born September 27, 1928, the twelfth and last child of Gordon Robert Uttley and Alvena Schultz. Her middle name was taken from the second wife of her uncle Wally, Wellington Uttley.
Irene married Norman Ronald Snider on Saturday May 10, 1947. The couple later adopted two children. The Kitchener Record printed a description of their wedding on the same day, page 17:

United in marriage this afternoon at Stirling Ave. Mennonite Church were Miss Irene Lillian Uttley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Uttley, 151 Church St., and Norman Ronald Snider, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenard Snider, R.R.#2 Kitchener. Rev. A. R. Shelly performed the ceremony.
Organist for the wedding music was Miss Helen Critchison.
The bride, whose father gave her in marriage, was wearing a floor-length white satin with a sweetheart neckline and lily-point sleeves in the satin bodice. The bouffant skirt was of net. She wore a Queen Anne headdress and carried a bouquet of talisman roses.
Miss Grace Witzel was her attendant. She was gowned in pink taffets with a pink headdress enhanced with forget-me-nots. Her flowers were red roses.
Best man was Mr. Harold Snider, R.R.#2 Kitchener. Ushering were Mr. Harold Uttley, brother of the bride and Mr. Elmer Musselman, Preston highway, cousin of the bridegroom.
Covers were laid for 75 guests for the wedding supper at the home of the bride's parents. The bride's mother wore a two-piece suit with sequin trim and the bridegroom's mother a royal blue dress. Their corsages were of red roses.
The bride's travelling ensemble was a pastel blue suit with black accessories and coursage of red roses. On their return from Bracebridge and points north, the couple will reside on Guelph St., Kitchener.
Norman and Irene Snider --
on May 10, 1947Norman died on March 29, 1996. His obituary in the Kitchener-Waterloo Record of Monday April 1, 1996, page C10, contained:
SNIDER, Norman Ronald - Suddenly, on Friday, March 29, 1996, Norm, at the age of 69 years, went to be with his Lord.
Loving husband and best friend of Irene; dearest father of Sherri and her husband Dave Plourde of Philipsburg and Ken and his wife Connie of Kitchener. Grandpa will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Mitch, Kendra and Aaron. Norm is survived by his brother, Harold and his wife Florence Snider of Atwood. Predeceased by his parents, Kenard and Hilda Snider.
The family received friends at the Westmount Funeral Chapel, 1001 Ottawa St. S. (at Westmount Road), Kitchener on Saturday from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in the chapel today (Monday) at 2 o'clock p.m. Rev. David Martin to officiate.
At the request of the family, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.

Loving mother of Sherri Snider of Philipsburg and Ken Snider and his wife Connie of Kitchener; beloved grandmother of Kendra, Mitchell and Aaron; dear sister of Florence (Roy) Burgetz and Myrtle (Ted) Howald, all of Kitchener; sister-in-law of Hilda, Nellie and Rose.
Predeceased by her husband, Norman (1996); parents, Gordon and Alvena Uttley; brothers, Gordon, Robert, Arnold, Harold, William, Frank, Arthur and sisters, Mildred Crannie and Hilda Bott.
Mrs. Snider's family will receive friends at the Edward R. Good Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral and committal service will be held at Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church, 57 Stirling Ave., N., Kitchener on Saturday, April 14, 2001 at 2 p.m., with Rev. David Martin officiating. Interment Hagey Cemetery, Cambridge.
